South African payroll,
built in Cape Town.
payloop is the payroll platform we wished existed when we were running it ourselves — calm at month-end, honest about what it does, and engineered for the way South African finance teams actually work.
Why we built it
Payroll is one of the few business processes that has to be exactly right, every single month, forever. Get it wrong and people don’t get paid — or SARS comes calling.
South African teams have been stuck choosing between heavy, consultant-driven payroll software and spreadsheets that fall apart at the first complication. payloop is a third option: a modern, opinionated platform that knows the SARS tables, speaks every South African bank’s file format, and gets out of the way the rest of the time.
What we ship
payloop runs the full monthly payroll loop — PAYE on the live SARS 2026/27 brackets, UIF and SDL, signed PDF payslips emailed to each employee, EMP201 and IRP5 / IT3(a) exports staged for eFiling, and bank-ready CSV files for FNB, Standard Bank, Capitec, Nedbank, Absa and Investec.
What we don’t do is move money. Disbursements stay inside your bank’s own authorisation flow.
Who we are
payloop is built by a small team of engineers and payroll specialists in Cape Town. We are independent, bootstrapped, and answerable to the people who use the product rather than to a board.
If you’d like to join us, our open roles live on the careers page.
How we work
We ship in small, frequent, reviewed changes. Every production deploy is preceded by an automated test suite, a staging environment seeded with synthetic data, and a human review. The full controls picture — encryption, access, backups, monitoring — lives on the security page.
We write down what changes between releases on the changelog and the longer thinking on the articles page.
