About the role

payloop is the South African payroll platform we wished existed. Our buyers are SMB owners and the accountants who service them — people who'd rather have a calm month-end than another platform to babysit. The product sells itself once it's in front of the right person. Getting it there is the job.

Compensation is commission-only, uncapped — we're betting on outcome and so are you. If you've sold SaaS or fintech to South African SMBs or accountants and you can run your own pipeline without a manager standing behind you, the rest of the deal lines up.

What you’ll do

  • Own the full SMB funnel: cold outbound, inbound triage, demos, proposals, close, hand-off to onboarding.
  • Build the accountant channel — the SA accountant ecosystem refers the lion's share of SMB payroll work, and the right network compounds for years.
  • Run your own pipeline, your own forecast, your own week. We'll give you the CRM, the collateral, and the founder's time when you need it. The plan is yours.
  • Feed real product signal back. The objection you heard three times this week is the feature we ship next week.
  • Close logos we can build customer stories around — the brand-builders that compound the rest of the funnel.

What you bring

  • A track record of selling SaaS or fintech to South African SMBs, accountants, or finance teams. Names, numbers, references.
  • Genuine comfort with a commission-only structure — you've done it before or you've got the conviction and the runway to back yourself.
  • Operator-grade autonomy. Nobody is going to manage your day.
  • Plain, honest communication. SMBs and accountants smell BS in the first thirty seconds; you won't ever try.
  • Fluency with — or a fast appetite for — the South African payroll, SARS and banking landscape.

Nice to haves

  • An existing book of SMB owners or accountant relationships in South Africa.
  • Prior sales role at a SA B2B SaaS or fintech (Xero, Sage, Yoco, Stitch, Lula, etc.).
  • Afrikaans, isiXhosa or isiZulu — many buyers code-switch and meeting them in their language helps.
